I think that, with how much social media and online content has changed in the past 6 years, there are so many better ways to find prom inspirations. The best places to start the search is to find some ideas seem to be on Pinterest and YouTube. I find that they have some of the best hair and makeup tutorials. Depending on what type of look you are looking for, you can normally find it.
Once you have a style in mind, the best places to find your dress haven't changed. I feel like it is still best to look in department stores, online stores, magazines, or pattern books (if you or someone you know can sew). If you want your date's attire to coordinate with yours, you can see if you can find something in the store. If you can't find them a good suit or tux in local stores, there are always online stores like The Black Tux where you can find what you might need.
If I were to go to a prom today, I would probably just change my makeup and hair. I loved my outfit, I honestly still have this dress and I would still wear it but my hair and makeup are dated and I have learned a lot since my prom. In the past couple of years I have gotten more into looking at makeup tutorials on Pinterest, Blogs, and YouTube. I feel my overall look would have been a lot better with this kind of makeup look (some other YouTube or Pinterest options) and this kind of hair (some other YouTube or Pinterest options).
